What is the idea behind Giant Pussy Records ?

Cutting edge dance music: ghetto-house A-sides, and dub-step B-sides. Its the sound of urban-club crossover.

What kind of music do you release?

Within our remit is anything well-produced that rocks clubs. We don’t shy away from vocals, rapped or sung. We love our break-beats and tech-funk grooves. It’s a constant mash-up of old and new school sounds.

Where are you based?

I am in Brighton, Nick’s in Wimbledon. But the studio and label office is with me on the coast. But as DJs, we endlessly tour, the UK, Europe and the world at large. Nowhere escapes the sound of Giant Pussy.

Why start a new label?

No one is doing what we do. Some try, but none come close. Since we began our formula the “dub-step b-side” has become the norm. But we’re happy to set trends.

When was it started?

2009.

Whats coming up?

Our latest release is 321 vs Tim Healey & Deekline: Bring it Back, with a spectacular video, and coming soon is the vocal version featuring the mighty Bounty Killer.

Next up is me and Felguk with a corking slab of peak-time club-action: “Rio” with an awesome dub-step remix by JFB, then there’s the next single “Fugu” from mystery super-producers – Stripper - with Akira Kiteshi’s dub-step re-work.

After Giant Pussy Records blinding launch, with new remixes of Fast Eddie’s hip-house classic ‘Yo Yo Get Funky’,which had support form electro & house thru breaks to dubstep and beyond...from (among others) Norman Cook, A-Trak, Crookers, Diplo, Utah Saints, Radio 1 Jocks, Tom Stephan, Scumfrog, Tommie Sunshine, Freestylers, Stantons, Zinc etc etc
and was number 1 in Beatport chart .

Its time for the 2nd release! Tim Healey (ex-Coburn) joins forces with Munich-based, electro-rising star TAI, (aka multi-gold and platinum selling and award-winning pop and hip-hop producer and Tai Jason), for an epic second release.

Grabbing all that is good about ghetto-house and sticking it in the melting pot,

the A-side: Pocket Rocket blends rap and r’n’b vocals with one of the bendiest basslines of the year, before decimating the dance-floor with a massive electro-chorus pay-off. Look out for the Pocket Rocket viral vid on youtube HERE…

On the AA side: Tim Healey & TAI are back with Mash Up Boys, that sounds like the secret love child of Justice and Armand Van Helden. Crunchy synths lay a bed to the phenomenal sing-a-long crunk-party vocal before the tune erupts into another monster b-line.

Finally, also on the AA side, Giant Pussy have seduced Helsinki based dubstep producer extraordinaire, Tes La Rok, into their kinky boudoir. His remix of Pocket Rocket is a no holds-barred reggae-tacular bleep-fest. Tes stays true to the vibe of the original but buries it in a bass-odyssey of a tune. Heavyweight sounds indeed, from the Finnish maestro.

I'm really happy to give my best wishes of happy birthday to a great young venezuelan dj and producer named Fomite "with a style based in the Funky-tronic era and funny cadences where the premise is to become a vehicle of happiness infection through music" as he describe himself...

Who (is) Fomite?

A boy who gives melodies to his memories or just someone who thinks in music, have some ideas and then make it real for having fun. As a Dj and Producer, I always have something to say about what I would die for: making sounds that I could dance.

What (kind of music make) Fomite?

I make club music for get myself happy (sincerely talking), then I try to share this sounds with people (everywhere) for make them happy too. Also, the genres I enjoy the most are all of those banging beats who comes from the old fashioned dance era (like House Music, Synth Pop, Funky Breaks, Experimental Beats, Playground Soundtracks, Latin, etc) mixed up with new sounds and some noisy vibes. My carreer is mostly influenced by awesome artists like Talking Heads, Beck, The Knife, Ace Of Base, Real Mc Coy, Sneaker Pimps, CSS and lots of rock and spanish pop musicians I listened since I was a child.

Where (comes from) Fomite?

Venezuela, a beautiful country from south america with awesome natural wonders, friendly people, and the most sexy women in the whole world. A place where everybody have the rythm in their steps.

Why Fomite?

I grew up between doctors (my parents and sister studied medicine) listening and learning medical language. When it was the time to choose an artist nickname, I google the word “Fomite” first, because it was an unusual word that means the same in lots of languages but just a few people use. That day I knew “Fomite” (or “Fómite” in spanish) means an unanimated object (any personal or public object) able to transmit biological agents like viruses and germs, spreading infection or disease by contact (like an used glass, or soiled dishes for example). This concept was really interesting to me because as an artist I would like to become a musician “able to transmit happiness with music”.

When (is born) Fomite?

Officially, in May 1984, but as a Dj in 2003. Then, 3 years later, when I finish my Journalism carrer in advertising, I began to compose and got involved with the production of danceable music. That time just wanted to try making some remixes to have some fun after work... Now it is my biggest achievement as a music lover and had become such a second carreer.
